Homosexuals are Satanists (Evil)

Recently, Rev. Prof. Emmanuel Martey , Former Moderator of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana, has labeled gays as Satanists and it should not be encouraged. The clergyman indicated that Satanists are mostly the ones in control of country’s finances and that such acts, when entertained, makes the country look shameful. “it’s a disgrace to a nation that sanctions (permits) homosexuality. Prof. Martey questioned a popular saying by homosexuals; “I was born with it or it’s genetic”. According to him, such statements are baseless and have no grounds because they (homosexuals), even scientists have not been able to prove whether it’s natural for someone to be born a homosexual or otherwise. He mentioned that, it’s impossible for an individual to claim to be gay and christian at the same time, maintaining however the fact that someone who finds him or herself in the practice can opt to be born again and denounce homosexuality completely. “For somebody to call himself or herself a Christian and homosexuals or lesbian at the same. For me I don’t want any argument…they say they were born that way, okay, you were born that way but if you say you want to be a Christian there’s something, a doctrine in Christianity called regeneration, being born again. If you were born homosexual and you want to be a Christian then you must be born again.” he said. He concluded his sermon on the note that true believers find it difficult to live with such people in the  same environment.

In my opinion (Kayode Gomes) i begin my response to the above hypocritical statement with a saying by ---Jesse J O’Connor…. “If you’re confused: denying equal rights and civil rights to a subgroup of humanbeings in a population based on the fact that it goes against your religious beliefs is not called pious, moral, or godly; it’s called Bigotry”. That other people have different opinion about life doesn’t mean they shouldn’t be tolerated and accepted. They shouldn’t be seen as perverse, discriminated against or stigmatised. What makes you better, who is more satanic and evil between you that call yourself a born again & have god forbidden secrets and an individual who decide to live and accept himself or herself openly. The Rev. said you can not be born again and homosexual at the same time, what has sexuality got to do with faith or how you communicate with what or who you believe in? He also mentioned true believers can not tolerate gay people…. please! who are the true believers? gay people are in the front line of everything in the 21st century including religion, what makes them different from ‘other people’? Moreover, the so called true believers he may be referring to are same people who claim to be born again and homophobic, yet they travel to places like Europe and America to claim asylum as gay and lesbian  or in the circle of LGBT. This so called homophobes ‘born again’ discriminate homosexuals. Is that not hypocrisy at the highest level? Or perhaps they are the same kind of believers that have secret affairs with people from the LGBT circle. A true believer accepts every human with love and respect regardless the other person’s belief or identity and it is not for you to judge. We live in the age of liberty….In philosophy, it involves free will. “Generally, liberty is distinctly differentiated from freedom in that freedom is primarily, if not exclusively, the ability to do as one wills and what one has the power to do; whereas liberty concerns the absence of arbitrary restraints and takes into account the rights of all involved. As such, the exercise of liberty is subject to capability and limited by the rights of others”.....Wikipedia. Though; “many think liberalism is the idea that evil deserves a fair chance”.....Kayode Gomes

The Interfaith Diversity Network of West Africa (IDNOWA) has responded by saying; “One thing that he says which is so false is the fact ‘True believers find it difficult to live with such people'…What we know as a faith based diversity network is that true believers are welcoming and have long respected diversity. The Ghana Rev. Prof is wrong because you can be homosexual and practise any faith of your choice and even choose not to belief in any. The truth is that you can’t choose your sexuality sometimes, but you can choose your religion or faith. It’s teaching like this that makes IDNOWA very relevant in West Africa and beyond. It’s important that those who speak and see from our point of view have the theological understanding to counter the narratives like that of the Rev. Prof. Martey. Many people like him speak out of ignorance.
